Porsche 996/997 Honda K Series Conversion

 
 

Intro

So here we have it! Bayside Fabrication is proud to announce the Honda K Series to Porsche 996/997 Engine mount kit. After originally designing this kit and testing a 550hp setup for the good part of a year and it is time to let you all get in on the fun. This kit allows you to bolt in the Honda K series power plant directly to the stock Porsche transaxle. The stock Porsche M96 power plant is a great motor when functioning properly but as many of you may know there are giant flaws that can lead to catastrophic engine failure. So that leaves you with a few options once that happens.

1: Is to rebuild the stock motor at a approximate cost of $18k

2: Buy a used motor for $8k and roll the dice again.

3: Swap the motor with something cheaper, lighter more reliable and has a significantly greater power potential. As well as a extensive network of almost endless aftermarket support.

Seems pretty easy choice to me. I have pushed the limits of the stock Honda K series and have documented my entire journey with the swap which you can see on YouTube.

Benefits of the Honda K Series Platform

  • Arguably one of the best motors ever built with the potential for huge power. A quick google search will confirm this as there are plenty of 1,000hp cars around and on any given night a 600hp K series car is car is simply common place now a days.

  • 416 lbs fully dressed in turbo form including adapter plate, flywheel, wiring harness, AC, turbo + all plumbing making 500+hp. My personal stock m96 dynod at 256hp where my K series made 500hp+

  • Cheap motors! Did I say cheap? The motor is actually the cheapest part of the swap. A stock JDM k24a can be purchased for around $900 all day long and can take about 450hp. A forged bottom end can run you around $2,500 and can handle 700+hp. Being a very popular motor the aftermarket support is huge on these. I would compare it to the GM LS platform as far as aftermarket support. You can buy just about anything you want for whatever modification you want. With only 4 injectors, 4 coils, 4 pistons, etc etc compared to the LS platform you spend half as much for the same parts.
